Today is the day, Vegiholics! There’s one recipe I’ve been BEGGED to post and since you’ve asked, you shall receive. Sur’s Goat Cheese Balls – in your home, healthy and super simple! No matter your distance from West Hollywood’s Sur Restaurant, everyone deserves these balls in their mouth. Being the true Vegiholic that I am, there is NO deep fryer involved! (I don’t even own one… who does?)
For this recipe, we highly suggest using avocado oil rather than extra-virgin olive oil. EVOO is typically our go-to for healthy cooking but the flavor can be too strong and distinct for certain dishes. The mild taste of avocado oil is a perfect match for goat cheese balls. Avocado oil is also as high in heart-healthy fats as EVOO but has a higher smoke point, which is essential for flash frying. (Though we used avocado oil, you can also use grapeseed oil as an alternative!)
In true Sur form, we accented this appetizer with a julienned carrot/cucumber salad, but topped it with our homemade mango sauce. This sauce is to die for! When I described the flavor of Sur’s drizzled dressing, Jeanine blew my mind by instantly creating a low-cal, dairy free, perfectly sweet sauce.
*WINE RECOMMENDATION: Sauvignon Blanc or a dry, crisp Rosé! Avoid oaky wines when devouring this delicious dish.*
