The holiday season is quickly approaching and you know what that means: PARTY TIME. Whether you’re having Friendsgiving or a potluck in December, I’m here to help.
There is nothing more pesky at a social gathering than having to carry around your drink while balancing a small (and, usually, unstable paper) plate AND FORK. Don’t forget, you’re doing this while attempting to carry on conversations and make eye contact. My wine glass ends up between my forearm and my boob as I awkwardly stab my salad and shove it down my throat. All the while, I’m trying not to spill all of the above all over the floor. Classy.
I love having people over; I’m a self-proclaimed hostess with the mostest. I want to share with you my go-to trio of forkless salads. With a variety of flavors and simple prep, you’ll have more to serve than just chips and salsa at your next shindig.
Caprese Skewers: Who doesn’t love this Italian favorite? And, on a stick?
Baby heirloom tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil leaves, balsamic reduction (glaze) and toothpicks/small skewers! Just add cracked black pepper and you’re ready to roll.
Belgian Endive Bites: Pear and gorgonzola. Need I say more?
Mix arugula, chopped pear, and chopped endive in a mixing bowl with lemon juice/olive oil. Spoon into endive leaves. Top with gorgonzola cheese and cracked black pepper. Super simple and YUM.
Greek Cucumber Boats: Feta cheese with my Kalamata Olive Caesar Spread (don’t worry, I’ll teach you!)
Cut Persian cucumbers into halves, hollow out the center with a paring knife. Add Kalamata Olive Caesar Spread, feta cheese and chopped tomatoes! Sprinkle a dash of lemon juice over top. Per usual, I add cracked black pepper for flavor and presentation.
Drink Recommendation: Alcohol. Lighter fluid, perhaps? Calm down, I’m kidding. The beauty of a par-tay is picking your poison. Just make sure you drink a bottle/glass of water per drink to stay hydrated. Keep your phone charged for that uber ride later on (and the most epic snapchats you won’t remember).
